How To Get Back on Track After Spring Break

As the semester winds down, it can be incredibly tempting to phone it in. After all, the sun is shining and hanging out with friends outside is much more fun than studying and doing homework. Although spring break made it feel as though summer is right around the corner, the cold, hard truth is that we still have five weeks left and then an additional week for finals, which kind of feels like forever. Despite this, though, it's really important that we continue working hard so we leave Penn State feeling proud of what we've accomplished. Here are three ways to finish the semester off strong and get back on track after our break.

1. Stick to your routine

Whether your routine consists of studying in the library every day or going to dinner with friends, routine is paramount to success. Continuing to stick to your daily habits can help you to stay attentive to the tasks you need to get done.

2. Keep going to class

Even though it may feel a bit torturous, going to class is crucial to end the year on a good note. Instead of skipping whenever the weather's nice, make sure to attend class as much as possible. It will feel much more satisfying when you finish the year having learned as much as possible.

3. Form a study group

Because of the lack of focus at the end of the year, you may want to try to create a study group. That way, you can be held accountable for your work and have a support system. When studying alone, you may feel tempted to go do something else or get so bored and restless you end up giving up. With a study group, though, you can be sure to get what you need to done, while also hanging out with acquaintances.

Even if you don't follow these tips exactly, or every day, just committing to one of these types of actions can be very helpful. Giving yourself a specific goal to achieve can certainly stand as motivation. However, just because you want to do well in your classes at the end of this semester, it doesn't mean you should neglect things that make you happy. It's also important to spend time with friends and go to activities or events that will allow you to take a break from work. Like I said before, challenging yourself to get to the finish line can feel impossible, but with a little bit of willpower and balancing your time, we can all do it.
