How To Get Your Dorm or Apartment Ready for Spring

The past couple of days, it has actually felt as though spring may come at some point. The towering mounds of snow have been melting and making the sidewalks seem as though they've been flooded and the sun has been peeking out slightly, making everything warmer. Not to mention that the air is starting to get that fresh smell that means spring is on its way. With all of the excitement for the upcoming and, when it comes to this botanical season, it can do a great deal of good to spruce up your living area. Here are four ways to fix up your home as the spring months start.

1. Complete some spring cleaning

Although this can sometimes be a monumental task (depending on how many articles of clothing you've thrown around your room while getting ready and how many dishes you may need to do), doing a deep clean in your living space can have amazing effects on your mental health. Going home every day and not having to worry about picking things up is really helpful. Besides that, though, it can just be good to make sure that you're not creating a dirty space for yourself. To get a deep clean, make sure to do everything. This includes, straightening up, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, etc. (you get the gist).

2. Buy yourself an air purifier

When you first get to college, everyone is usually harping at you to get an air purifier for your dorm. Even though this can be slightly annoying and redundant, those people are actually giving good advice. Air purifiers are really helpful to clean the air around you and keep your living area safe and healthy, getting rid of toxins that you may breathe in. They can keep you from getting sick often and give you peace of mind about the air quality in the space you live in. And don't worry — even air purifiers can look cute with options in different colors, sizes and designs.

3. Play some music and light a candle

This suggestion may not be the most effective when it comes to cleaning, but it can certainly set the vibe in your space and make things feel just a little more comfortable and cozy. It always seems to make things a bit better when you inundate your senses with things you enjoy, such as good scents or sounds.

4. Buy some flowers or plants to brighten up your space

Who doesn't love some pretty plants? Whether you're into tulips and ferns, buying a plant for your living space can help brighten things up and just add something new. Taking care of plants can be slightly time consuming, but, because of that, it also means that you can start a new hobby through getting a plant. Also, plants produce oxygen, which means that your living space will be further purified.

As spring begins to bloom, these suggestions will help you curate your dorm or apartment to have a fresh feel. Having a clean, bright space to come back to after a long, hard day of class can be incredibly beneficial and can even allow you to feel productive when completing homework there. It can be very difficult not to get burnt out at the end of the year when it comes to finals and the urge to simply spend all of your time outside in the sun. To curb this, and to just feel more at home, make sure to consider these tips!
